Alternatives to Fast Fashion

Fast Fashion Around the World

Clothing and Textile Industries

The fast fashion industry is an insanely large industry in many countries aside from the US. Not only are fast fashion companies reproducing large quantities of garment each day, but textile companies have a large involvement in the fast fashion industry. However, these textile companies are usually unknown to the consumer audience. The fast fashion companies coupled with the textile factories are all labor-intensive. According to the International Labor Organization, more than 60 million people around the globe work for industries involving textiles, clothing, leather, and footwear. This is an incredibly high number of people considering it is only including the number of workers for the production of textiles and apparel.

According to a survey conducted in 2020 including respondents from around the world, it was found that the average number of clothing articles one has in their wardrobe is approximately 148 items.
