Alternatives to Fast Fashion
It's no surprise that fast fashion is bad for the environment. Additionally, companies who practice fast fashion do not treat their employees very well. Hence the need for alternatives to fast fashion. There are many alternatives to fast fashion, which include second-hand shopping, upcycling clothing, and buying from more sustainable brands.
CitationThrift Stores
Shopping at thrift stores is my personal favorite alternative to fast fashion. Rather than sending clothes to the landfill, some people choose to donate their clothes to secondhand shops. This gives the clothing article another opportunity to be worn. It is also much cheaper to buy thrifted clothes as opposed to new clothing articles. Thrifting a clothing article can also be a rewarding experience. Especially when a one-of-a-kind piece is found at a low cost. Thrifting gives consumers the opportunity to curate a unique wardrobe.

Eco-friendly clothing options
Another alternative to fast fashion is shopping from sustainable clothing brands. This means the companies use sustainable practices to produce and distribute their clothing articles. Some sustainable companies include Patagonia, Tradlands, and Reformation. Shopping from sustainable clothing brands tends to cost a bit more. That is because companies are not prioritizing mass-producing the clothing at shockingly low costs. It is worth investing more in a piece from a sustainable clothing brand, because the clothing articles will last longer. Employees working at sustainable clothing brands also get treated better and paid a liveable wage.
